Saturday Smackdown: Drag Queen performance is putting a drag on Christmas
Each week, Martin Mawyer takes top news stories and gives them a painful Saturday smackdown. So here are the Smackdown lashings for the week of 12.19.22.
Drag Queen performance is putting a drag on Christmas
Who knew you could combine Christmas with drag queens?
Now, this Christmas miracle has been accomplished, thanks to “Miz Cracker,” a drag queen who stars in the “adult-only” version of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch in London at the Southwark Playhouse.
In a new stage show, Miz Cracker poignantly acts out the story of The Grinch character Cindy Lou “as she recalls the Christmas Eve she first met the Grinch and the twisted turn of events her life has now taken.” Now poor grown-up Cindy Lou “is a hard-drinking, pill-popping, very experienced woman.”
Who would not want to experience this Christmas gem?
“To say that Christmas is about traditional values or values of any kind anymore is pretty ridiculous,” Miz Cracker opines. “Christ is nowhere featured in this. In America, if you look at the way people knock down the doors of shopping centers, I think you can tell that we have separated Christmas from Christ.”
And, of course, the way to put Christ back into Christmas is with a sensational sequin-studded drag show!
The traditional way “of thinking about family is old and tired and we need to reinvent it,” says Miz Cracker, clearly a deep thinker and wise philosopher.
“So yeah, f**k family,” he added.
You do what you want, Miz Cracker. But I, for one, will be enjoying Christmas with family tomorrow as I celebrate the birth of Christ.
Don’t let the door hit you on your way out
That was essentially what the principal of Jackson Memorial Middle School in Ohio told English teacher Vivian Geraghty after she
refused to alter the rules of grammar when she rejected the use of preferred pronouns by some students.
Geraghty argued that her religious beliefs prevented her from pretending that her students could be any gender, or combination of genders, they wanted.
Now Geraghty is suing the school district after she was forced to resign. The school adopted a policy that forces teachers to be subordinate to the gender demands of their students, and Geraghty, a professing Christian, is having no part of it.
Her federal lawsuit states that before her forced resignation Geraghty “taught her class while remaining consistent with her religious practices and scientific understanding concerning … gender and sex.”
But two of her students – that’s right, just two – demanded that Geraghty begin using their preferred pronouns that were consistent with “their new gender identities rather than their legal names.”
Outrageously, Principal Kacy Carter told Geraghty that she would have to change her religious beliefs or resign.
Perhaps Geraghty should return to her teaching job and choose to identify as an employee.
Jesus’ Words Attacked as Hate Speech in Virginia
Why do these issues continually erupt in Loudoun County, Va.?
Hundreds of community members are petitioning the Loudon County school board to ban “hate speech” after a parent quoted the Bible at a recent meeting.
The district’s transgender policy has been a focal point of criticism by parents after two female students were sexually assaulted by a boy pretending to be a girl wearing a skirt last year. During the recent meeting, a parent commented that the board was promoting “immoral” behavior that violated “God’s design” and “natural order.”
“If any man or woman causes one of these little ones to stumble, it would be better for a millstone to be put around their neck and thrown into the lake,” said the parent, Mark Winn, quoting Jesus’ words in Matt.: 18:6. “Get back to reading, writing and arithmetic and quit grooming and pimping.”
Oh boy, that triggered some community members – who interpreted the comments as incitement to violence. Because just possibly there is a real chance that millstones will be attached to the necks of the school board members by radical marauding Christians.
One community member who signed the petition said, “Platforming hate speech like this empowers people to commit acts of violence against oppressed groups of people and causes people like me in the LGBTQIA+ community to be bullied (often into suicidal ideation or suicide), tortured and killed. I demand policy in the school board that requires them to cut off a person speaking … hate speech.”
Suicide? Torture? Murder? From quoting the Bible?
One member of the community who also signed the petition against the words of Jesus Christ said that the First Amendment doesn’t protect hate speech or hateful rhetoric against marginalized people.
Actually, it does. That’s the whole point of the First Amendment – to protect unpopular or offensive speech.
We hope the Loudon County board throws this petition in the garbage, along with the transgender curricula that – in the words of parent Mark Winn, is “grooming and pimping” their children.
The Oscars’ best actress award may get nixed
In yet another attempt to marginalize and erase women, the LA Times is calling on the Oscars to eliminate the “best actress” award in all categories. Actually, the Times would be OK if all “gendered categories” were eliminated in all awards shows planet-wide to encourage – you guessed it – equality.
Now, we should not have to point out the obvious, but eliminating the best actress category doesn’t make men and women equal. It doesn’t make their performances equal, either. Let’s face it, there are simply some roles that women must fill, and vice versa – even in times such as these when wackos on the Left want us to believe there are no differences between the sexes.
We have to wonder who has been so offended by the word “actress” that this is really being considered.
The answer is The LA Times, that’s who. In its recent editorial, the Times, and the Times alone, has decided that the awards shows should “scotch this outdated categorization.”
To be grammatically correct, the word “actress” is properly used when referring to a woman. It is the feminine version of “actor” – which is the masculine version. We understand that grammar rules are outdated notions of the “patriarchy” or some such nonsense, but these rules still apply in most dictionaries.
The LA Times may deserve its own Oscar for wokest performance by a newspaper … but none of this matters since nobody watches the Oscars anymore.
Climate activist says, Stop Having Children!
Shannon Osaka, a mentally deranged climate activist, recently made the ludicrous argument in the Washington Post that children are bad for the environment because, as she puts it, they are a “high-cost luxury” and are bad for Mother Earth.
Here’s how, in her calculation, children are bad for the environment: First, they do a lot of breathing. Osaka believes all this breathing spews too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, so it’s a problem for the environment.
Second, children are doing too much actual living, which causes environmental destruction throughout their lifetimes.
It goes without saying that Osaka herself breathes and lives, but let’s not infuse too much logic into her comments.
“Don’t be part of the problem,” Osaka has said, “be part of the solution.”
In a Tweet, Osaka points to a research paper outlining the very dangerous footprints parents create for Mother Earth by having just one child.
You have to read it, just for amusement.
“In an attempt to quantify all potential future carbon emissions of a child, the researchers assumed that a mother and father were responsible for one-half of the emissions of their future child, one-quarter of their grandchild’s emissions, one-eighth of their great-grandchild’s emissions, and so on until the year 2400 – or until the family line died out.”
I say people who write garbage like this shouldn’t have future children.
