Phoenix School District Cancels Contract with Christian University over LGBTQ Issues
In Phoenix, Arizona, a school board has decided to ban student teachers from a Christian university because of their faith.
The Washington Elementary School District board voted unanimously to end its 11-year partnership with Arizona Christian University, citing its "strong anti-LGBTQ stance" as a reason.
The board claimed that this move was necessary to protect its LGBTQ students and staff from discrimination and harassment.
But what they really did was discriminate and harass Christian students and staff who hold traditional views on marriage and sexuality.
Arizona Christian University is a private, accredited institution that upholds biblical values and principles.
It does not discriminate against anyone based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. It simply asks its students and faculty to adhere to a code of conduct that reflects its Christian mission and identity.
The school board's decision is not only unjust but also illegal.
It violates the First Amendment rights of free speech and free exercise of religion for the student teachers from Arizona Christian University. It also violates the Arizona Constitution, which prohibits any preference or discrimination based on religion in public education.
The president of Arizona Christian University, Len Munsil, said that he was shocked and saddened by the school board's action.
He said that his university has provided quality student teachers to the district for over a decade and has never received any complaints or concerns about their performance or behavior.
He also said that his university would not back down from its Christian convictions and that it would take legal action if necessary to defend its rights.
He urged the school board to reconsider its decision and restore the partnership with his university.
This is not an isolated incident.
This is part of a larger trend of hostility and intolerance toward Christians in our society. We have seen it in other states, where Christian schools have been targeted by activists who want to force them to abandon their beliefs or lose their accreditation.
We have seen it in our culture, where Christians are mocked and marginalized for expressing their faith.
We cannot continue to allow this to happen.
Our religious freedoms are being eroded by radical leftists who want to impose their ideology on everyone else.
In fact, they want to erase our heritage and values.
Our Christian obligation is to stand up for our rights and faith.
We must not let them cancel Christianity in America. 🇺🇸
