Inappropriate Sex Education for 5th Graders? Long Island Parents Say Enough is Enough
Parents Fear Retaliation as They Protest Against Explicit Sex-Ed at Long Island Waldorf School
Parents at the self-proclaimed progressive Waldorf School of Garden City on Long Island are up in arms, and rightfully so.
Some even threaten to withdraw their children from the school because of a newly introduced sex education curriculum for fifth graders that brazenly includes topics such as oral and anal sex and masturbation — all accompanied by illustrations.
This new curriculum, titled "Our Whole Lives" (OWL), was launched by none other than the Unitarian Universalist Church.
The curriculum features a contentious book called “It’s Perfectly Normal,” which is clearly inappropriate for fifth graders.
One mother was rightfully disgusted. “It made me physically nauseous,” she told The NY Post. “This is clearly agenda-pushing and it’s so outrageous.”
There's even a section that encourages children to "look at and even touch each other’s bodies."
Parents are outraged.
These are their children, not social experiments. Child advocates everywhere are astonished that they're being labeled as "against diversity" for simply wanting to protect kids from an overtly graphic curriculum.
One mother was even afraid of retaliation from the school for speaking up.
“This school is the one place where they have always let children be children and they used to try to keep them away from social media and television,” she told the NY Post.
“But now this ideology is becoming the forefront of the school’s focus. I’m all for diversity and inclusion but it takes on a whole new tone when your little kids come home lecturing you about pronouns and asking about oral sex.”
In an absurd exercise, the OWL curriculum encourages kids to imagine waking up one day “with a body and gender identity different” from before.
This is not education; it's indoctrination.
Sharon Slater, the co-founder of Family Watch International, said it best: “This type of curriculum is intended to divide children from their parents’ values. They’re told at a young age they have a right to sexual pleasure and sexual knowledge and it often turns kids against their parents’ views and values on sex and sexuality.”
The school administrators might not worry about backlash because they have the backing of the Biden Administration.
But what about the parents? What about the children? It's time to stand up against this ideological onslaught and remember the real purpose of schools: education, not indoctrination.
